According to international labor law, the management must allow free association of the labor. The company must provide the environment, which can ensure that the employees are free in joining in any association and enjoy the right of collective bargaining. The management and labor unions often have a clash of objectives which creates conflicts in the implementation of the organizational objectives (Cooke, 2012). Many of the labor conflicts are generated on the issue of compensation being given to the labor. The unions are off the view that the labor is not being paid their due compensation and no matter how outrageous this claim may be, labor tends to support this concern. The rising cost of competition, switching of manufacturing industries overseas and issues of economic down turn has all contributed negatively to the profitability of the companies (Barling, 2011). The markets have become very competitive and the issues of cost cutting, right sizing, and restructuring doesn't receive favorable response from labor unions. On the contrary, the growth in the real wages has not been according to the rise of inflation. Everything cost more and the items of basic necessity are hard to come by, besides rent, utilities and children education. The labor demands higher pay from their employers as they have no other way to support their families. We will be reviewing the role of the management in the organization and the role of union in an organization. We will develop two strategies for the management which they can implement to make the working environment more productive and improve the relationship with unions.
