Introduction

The notion that believes that in the current economic climate, the priority for any leader or manager is to inspire discretionary effort in their teams will be evaluated in the following discussion. Leadership is a set of many complex activities (Gosling et al, 2003, 5). The tools and behaviour and attitude are the key components that form a leader (MTD Training, 2005, 35). The need of a leader is present in every organization and workplace. The leader has a critical role to play in order to keep his team motivated to move ahead in their work. In any organization, the need of providing adequate motivation and working environment and efficient communication in between employers and employees are very essential and plays a pivotal role in promoting and encouraging excellent performance of the organization. For such processes to be carried out in a very elegant way, it is important that the leadership and top management understand their role and responsibility.

The main thing is that in any of the organization, there should be an adequate attention given to leadership and its practices if that the organization wants to achieve success and its objectives. The leader or the manager in the organization have to take the role of a monitor and a charger who is involved mainly in streamlining and organizing the activities within the company in such a way that the aims and objectives of the company are achieved.

In the current economic situation, the need for a leader has enhanced for every organization. In the past several decades, the global economy was badly affected due to poor management of the economy. There are several ways to fight and conquer the global economic crisis but without a great influential leader it will be impossible. The leader is the one who will be preparing and developing the strategy and then will also be executing the strategy in order to gain the competitive edge in the industry. The severe changes in the global economy are rooted in the way the economy was planned, organized and governed. The top management has to take several steps to keep the performance of the company steady and to ensure that the company stays in competition in these tough times. This has to be understood that for any company to come out of these difficult scenarios and tough economic situation, they need to have a visionary leader who will take steps to make the company get out of these tough economic conditions.
