Introduction
Allan Savory, after thorough analysis of the factors causing degradation of ecosystems, realized that it is not the overpopulation or unhealthy farming practices behind the decline of healthy ecosystems. He concluded that most of the basic environmental issues arise because of poor management decisions (Savory, 1999, pp 10). Therefore, according to him, ecosystems can be protected only by altering the ways in which decisions are made.
Furthermore, Savory points out that a more wholesale strategy is important in this regard. He also proposed a new approach in decision-making, most popularly known as Holistic Management. This process provides a framework for decision-making to people, along with considering their social, economic, and environmental circumstances. Therefore, it is considered to be helpful and appropriate for any organization. Holistic Management is termed as a process of categorization and utilization of the available choices and tools on an everyday basis (Butterfield, 1994, pp. 4).

Brief about the organization
Fashion Fabrics Ltd. is a based in Sharjah, UAE. It is a small firm which deals mainly with retail textiles. Therefore, we can classify it as sub-system. It was founded by two brother entrepreneurs back in the year 1975.
In the early 1980s, the competition in retail textile market was insignificant. There was no issue of attracting and customers and thus, the business of Fashion Fabrics grew at a steady pace. The founders were able to make huge capital investments. It was during this exciting earlier phase that the two brothers soon came up with two more branches in emirates. The size of earnings of the brother founders grew rapidly and they reputation in the market rose very high.
Description
Human beings are generally inclined to respond to problematic situations by isolating them or subdividing them into smaller, more controllable parts. This technique may be useful in some aspects, while at others it limits their capacity to view problem 'holistically' and creatively. The Holistic Management approach by Savory, however, presents a more comprehensive problem solving methodology, which consist of several ranges. These can be chosen from the System of Systems Methodologies (SOSM).
In this section, I shall present the practical use of Holistic Management approach by linking it to the real-life organizational context. Moreover, I will discuss the outcomes of use of Soft Systems Methodology, particularly, the application of Viable Systems.
VSM (viable system model) is defined as one of the fundamental value-based service systems. Stafford Beer (1960) was the pioneer in developing viable system, which is defined as a system ...
