Introduction

This essay address the motivation either it is intrinsic or extrinsic. In this essay it has been discussed that to what extent a pay role increase can motivate an employee. It also has been highlighted in this essay that under what circumstances an employee motivation increases. Motivation can be defined as the capability of an individual to desire certain personal or professional goals. The motivation in the force which causes people to exert appropriate amount of energy to achieve a certain goal, as it would provide them with an intrusion or extrinsic goal. Intrinsic motivation is generally a modern concept which is developed in reference to the modern developed global society. This concept states that human beings have high level achievement goals which drastically outweigh any extrinsic goals. The basic differentiation between the extrinsic and intrinsic motivational factor among the individuals, is based on the source of the motivational forces (MULLER & Gappisch, 2005, pp. 741).

In intrinsic motivational phenomenon, the source originates from within the individual, who wants to achieve a certain goal to attain personal satisfaction. This satisfaction will allow the individual to attain personal growth and become enlightened in nature. This concept is based on high level cognitive abilities of the people and cannot be considered a concept which is generally applicable on the majority of the global population. Rather this concept is highly limited and specified in scope, as it is generally applicable on the top management of a given organization.

Discussion

Motivation is predominantly a psychological force, which drives individuals to achieve certain objectives that they have set for themselves. In the traditional perspective the psychological aspect of the human mind was not considered as a significant factor, as the human society did not value motivation as a credible attribute (Ramlall, 2004, pp. 53). However in the contemporary global society, the phenomenon of human motivation has been critically analyses, and credible modern researches have shown that it has a drastic impact on the performance level of human beings. The psychological forces cause people to exert an excessive amount of effort and energy on certain tasks, which they could not have been able to access in normal circumstances. It is due to this reason that the majority of the contemporary business organizations and even non for profits entities seek to incorporate numerous motivational factors, in their workplace environments.

In the context of the modern organizations motivation is considered as one of the most significant strategic factors, and it allows the company to drastically enhance its efficiency and organizational performance. The human resource department plays an n integral role in the development of an adequate organizational culture, which causes the employees to develop a heightened sense of organizational motivation. Motivation is not an easy attribute, and the organizations have to make a substantial effort to ensure that the relevant infrastructure is developed for the motivational capital.
