Corporate Communication Strategies

Introduction

Communication is the lifeblood of every organization. The goal of the every organization is to have an effective communication internally and externally to achieve the shared goals of the organization with rest of the stakeholders. Similarly Microsoft Inc since its inception has given primary importance to its corporate communication strategies mainly because management knows that success of the company in this competitive environment is entirely dependent of effective communication (Alexander et al, 2009, PP. 32-40). The report first elaborates the importance of corporate communication strategy, its purpose, and links with corporate objectives and its relationship with corporate branding. The report further illustrates how the internal and external communication audit is planned and conducted within the organization, thus reviewing the effectiveness of the communication. Finally, the new corporate communication strategy components are discussed in detail in the task 4 of this report.

Task 1) Importance of corporate communication

The discussion in the meeting will highlight the importance of corporate communications, its purpose, and strategies (Argenti, 2009). As if for every organization communication is considered as the lifeblood by the management of Microsoft Inc and thus has ensured that its communications strategies are in accordance with company mission and vision statement. Therefore, the objectives can only be attained if the corporate communications strategies at different communications levels are linked with the company's objectives. Further, these objectives and goals of the organization are also linked with the mission and vision of the company. The chart better illustrates the communication, its types, levels etc.

1.1) Purpose of corporate communication

The purpose of Microsoft corporate communication strategies are listed as follows

It helps achieving the organizations objectives and goals.

It communicates with the internal and external stakeholders i.e. audience of the company

It helps linking corporate communications with that of corporate branding and identity creating

Corporate image is created

It helping in building the Strong brand of the company

Overall reputation of the company is developed

Corporate communications will improve how well informed people feel and build reputation, through internal and external marketing campaigns and activities designed to improve understanding about the company, its services, and goals.

Finally, corporate communication strategy is ensured at each level and for each type (mentioned in the chart) in order to create a synergy between organization goals & objectives and communication strategy in particular; and synergy in overall organization in general.

1.2) Assessment of Corporate Communications & its Link to Corporate Objectives

As described earlier, Microsoft has linked its corporate communication strategy with the corporate objectives to achieve the organization goals (Argenti & Barnes, 2009). Management was aware of the fact that most of their competitors are setting different types of strategies for different department of the organization mainly because if at each level a proper communication strategy is not implemented it would not be possible to achieve the objectives of that particular level of department(He & Balmer, 2007, pp. 765-785).
