Introduction

The managers must choose a certain style of management that respects the basic organizational setting or culture. In different works of administration, researchers have worked repeatedly on the issues that define the role of management, in terms of its techniques and styles. In order to manage people in the organization, the managers must adopt the most effective management style or leadership behavior that incorporates the corporate culture of an organization. Therefore, managers must evaluate and analyze the overall organizational goals and objectives that must be accomplished by increase in the productivity level of employees (Gomez-Mejia, et al. 2008, pp. 19-25).

The report identifies the main management styles in different organizational settings and its effects on the overall performance of an organization. In this scenario, managers are required to determine the effective leadership style that matches with the current environment and individual personality in the workplace environment.

Management styles

Management is the combination of techniques that can control the behavior of subordinates in order to increase productivity and overall performance of an organization (Northouse, 2009, pp. 230-237). There are different styles of management discussed below

Autocratic Management Style An authoritarian-style determines the tense atmosphere within the department and employees behave more passively, adapted and dependent. Opinions, attitudes, and solutions are often blindly taken their own productivity and creativity, however, remains characterized by the wayside. In some cases it can also lead to massive rebellion and defiance. Good results can certainly be achieved, but due to lack of effective leadership, the goals might not be achieved. Authoritarian management style is a set of management practices, the use of which the head is focused on their own knowledge, interests, and goals. Authoritarian leader does not consult with colleagues or subordinates take a tough stand and use the administrative measures of people imposing their will through coercion or payment (Fekete, 2001, pp. 165-170).

This style is most in demand in the making, that is, at the initial stage of formation of the organization, its workforce when employees do not build skills vision goals and ways to achieve them. The negative qualities authoritarian include the fact that it reduces creativity subordinates, deteriorating social and psychological climate, leading to turnover.

Consultative Management Style Discussions, voting and decisions are taken on a mutual understanding and employees and managers have a good relationship with each other. Supervisors are aware of their role models, and their responsibility. How the tasks are to be done and what should be the time required for it to be determined by consensus (Northouse, 2009, pp. 230-237). The proper and timely achievement of the objectives is pursued jointly. There is a friendly interaction between management and employees.

Persuasive Management
