For activity B we will be discussing the HR role pertaining to organisational development and information according to the HR professional map, and outline how an HR practitioner can ensure that the HR services rendered are timely and effective. It is mandatory for an effective HR practitioner to provide the HR basics effectively and ensure that the HR function has a clear purpose and structure which is effectively communicated and also ensuring that the services provided to the customer are nothing short from excellence.
Customer needs
As an HR professional it is necessary to be able to effectively identify the needs of the customers in order to be able to meet those needs. An HR practitioner works within the human resource department and have a multitude of responsibilities for instance finding appropriate job candidates for any job openings, identifying training needs, specifying the job descriptions of the employees and aiding the employees who have any issues that need to be resolved. An HR practitioner can be of service to the employees within the organization, the management and the external clients who are the customers. The nature of work and the requirements and needs of all three respectively vary. It is the requirement of the HR practitioner to ensure that the needs are being effectively dealt with. The customer in this situation is the employee who might approach the HR practitioner with a number of issues or concerns; in this particular paper we will consider that the employee has approached the HR practitioner inquiring about how many holiday entitlements he has available for this year and needs to know if he will be provided a few days off for a certain family event.
Management
Management usually approaches the HR practitioner for solutions or options that might be considered for a certain employee. Since the HR practitioner has the responsibility of ensuring the well being of the employees and also maintains the documentation the management can approach the HR practitioner at any time to understand how to effectively deal with any particular situation. In this case we will consider that the management has approached the HR practitioner to identify the training needs of an employee, about whom the management received complaints against.
The clients
Clients tend to approach the HR practitioner of any company for the purpose of understanding more appropriately about job opening and current available posts. For this case we will consider a client who wants to inquire the reason why his job application was declined.
The three needs presented represent the varying nature of needs that an HR practitioner has to deal with, however the most important element is dealing with the conflicting needs and identifying which needs require immediate attention.
