Leadership is influence; it involves persuading and convincing others to follow a common goal or mission which is extremely significant to the group. It is not about dominating someone it asks for the willingness of people to take up certain goals or task of the group and work them out efficiently on their own. Leadership asks for having a collective vision, developing trust and confidence, and making others work together some common goals and objectives.
Discussion
This report will crucially evaluate the management structure of where I am working currently. The major focus of the study will be to highlight leadership, user involvement and accountability of the institution.
The youth organisation which will be evaluated and analysed within this report is established with in a Christian community centre which is operated by Christian staff. This particular centre works along with moms and toddlers all the way through toddler group, community lounge and operate the youth centre for about 2 nights per week. This particular youth centre was formerly being managed by a young couple. They handled several drug issues and teen pregnancy issues. Other than this they made sure that they pay a visit to young people who are captured in prisons and also get along through good friendships with all the gangs who felt at home at this youth centre. The groups of they youth were permitted to graffiti on the walls as a form of art, they would be given individual mugs with their own name and the most favourite of all drinks written on it. This created a sense of belonging. This centre was a very ancient place where there was just a pool table, where the youth workers would involve the young people in order to collect funds to get the building done all over once again, along with obtaining some equipment like, jukebox, pool tables, laptops etc.
Throughout the restoration and rebuilding time frame, the Hub was closed down for a year time period. After the year passed by, the youth workers left, just leaving few missionaries from the centre and few volunteers for running the youth centre. All the young people gave up their identity, their sense of belonging; everything that they had accomplished through graffiti but it was no longer there any more. The youth workers with whom they had developed friendship with were no more there. All of this resulted into the presence of young people stopping at the Hub. It took about a 2 years time period for a youth worker to come up to and work along with these missionaries. Now it will be my job to go and look out at the existing leadership.
The benefit of this youth organisation is that it is totally an independent asset and does not depend on the local authority for any sort of financial support as it is supported by a missionary organisation along with public donations. Hence, youth policies at present will remain under ...
