Burke-Litwin model

With respect to the Burke Litwin model the environmental factors seems to play an important part when it comes to change in the organization and it is via the external factors that change can be implemented in the organization. The elements that are responsible for change in Airbus are:

External Factors

External factors is said to be concerned with markets, competition, legislation as well as the economy. It is these factors that are said to have an impact on the organization an d then it becomes vital for the manager or the authority to continuously keep scanning the environment and tackle issue before they become a major problem and hinder the productivity of the organization (Hanover, 1998, pp. 105-124).

This factor is said to have a major impact on Airbus and its image that the general public as well as the various stakeholder's holders associated with the company. The main issue that Airbus is said to be facing is in the form of rivalry amidst workers based on the nationality and the political history that the nationalities share. The problem that Airbus seems to be facing is that of the French and the Germans which has been denied by the officials of the organization. There have been rumours stating that there is intense rivalry between the French workers and the German workers of Airbus. Both induce discrimination and hence are making the working condition difficult to work in (Burke & Litwin, 1992, pp 523).

Mission & Strategy

Burke-Litwin states that an organization is said to have a mission which articulates the reason of the existence. It is the mission of the organization which is said to be the premise based on which the entire organizational goals and objectives along with the activities are based on. The strategies are also said to be based on the changes that take place in the environment and eventually impacts the work pace in the organization. With respect to Airbus the middle management should have ensured that work ethics should have been strongly implemented and any breach in the conduct of ethics should be taken seriously and penalties should be implemented. The workers should have been made clear that only work should be the motive and no other factors should be incorporated when it comes to completing the organizational goals and objectives (Burke & Litwin, 1992, pp 530).

Leadership

Burke-Litwin states that the attitude as well as the behavior of the officials in higher level as well as the middle level of the organization impacts the organization. It is the ways or mode via which the changes are implemented that can influence the teams that are said to be working in the lower or working level of the organization (Wheatly, 1992, pp. 32-67).
