This part analyzes the leadership approaches that have been adopted by Rick Belkner, Mike Wilson and Jack Greely in the case.
Rick Belkner
He opted for the Laissez-Faire approach of leadership. In this style of leadership, responsibilities of leaders are shared with the every member of the organization. This style of leadership is fruitful for such business that involves a high level of creativity. This style of leadership is considered as an immense help because this style can highly motivate employees because employees get control over their work life. The successful implementation of this style of leadership mainly depends on a good team work and beneficial and efficient interpersonal relationship (Schulz, 2001, 10). With regards to the examples and effectiveness of Laissez-Faire approach of leadership that has been adopted by Rick, it can be said that the approach was highly effective. This was because it resulted in positive results and the change that was implemented increased the productivity. Quoting the example of initial stage, the organization was reorganized and was led by Rick because of which he was able to increase productivity, reduce errors, and reduce lost time. Moreover, after returning, he introduced another program, which was also successful (Wood et.al. 2010, pp. 100).
Mike Wilson
Mike Wilson adopted democratic style of leadership. A leader who adopts democratic style of leadership consider opinions of others and perform the decision making process from different perspectives. While adopting this style of leadership, a leader takes others into consideration in two ways. First he can consult others while making a decision and secondly he can make a decision and then persuade others that the decision that he has made is correct. With regards to the examples and effectiveness of democratic style of leadership that was adopted by Mike, he gave freedom to Rick because of which he was able to increase the level of productivity. Once again, after Rick returned, he allowed him to conduct the meeting which also increased productivity (Wood et.al. 2010, pp. 100).
Jack Greely
In autocratic style of leadership that was adopted by Jack a leader does not take references from anyone else while making decisions. It is beneficial for those businesses that involve rapid decision making. This style of leadership can create de-motivation and alienation of staff. In this sort of style of leadership, a leader ha true command and the organization depends on leaders to a greater extent (Rowe, 2007, 10). With regards to the examples and effectiveness of autocratic style of leadership that was adopted by Jack, this was highly ineffective because he forced rules on the employees because of which productivity reduced and turnover rate increased. Since the management was task oriented, the morale and the level of motivation of the employees reduced greatly.
Task 1.2
The leadership approach that was adopted by Rick was highly effective and this was because it was free from any kind of power and political issues. This was because he listened to the employees and gave them ...
