Abstract

In this paper, we will provide a critique on the article Role of genotype in the cycle of violence in maltreated children. In this article, large samples of male children from birth to adulthood were studied to determine the reason as a result of which children who are maltreated develop anti social behavior when they grow up and others do not. Functional polymorphism in the gene encodes the neurotransmitter metabolizing enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAOA) was considered to have a huge effect on the maltreatment.
