Introduction

The play “The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904)”, is set in 1900 on a Russian country estate with a mansion, surrounded by a beautiful cherry orchard. Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) today is not necessarily known as a comic poet, but he himself described his plays as comedies. The funny thing here is the helplessness of his protagonists who yearn for a better life, but are unable even to do something for it.
