Introduction

The Louvre Museum is the one of the well-known museums of the world. It is largest French museum that is dedicated to the art of pre-Impressionist of fine, decorative and arts of archaeology. Louvre Museum was built in 1981. It has abundance to save the art collected works world class. The site is also used for films and movies making purposes. Louvre Museum is considered as the world's largest museum. It is situated in city of Paris in the previous royal palace of the Louvre. The museum has encouraged recently the opening of museum in two more locations. The first in Lens (France) and second one is in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

The collection of the museum is the result of significant efforts of the history. To see finest art galleries of the museum, millions of visitors come each year. It is on record that over 15 million visitors visited the museum in 2008 and it was the most visited art museum in the world. Most of the famous and worthy memorable arts masterpieces are in this museum like the Venus of Milo and the memorable Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. His art works pieces are the enduring collection of the royal prestigious gallery. Some other art works in the museum includes the Venus of Milo, the Nike of Samothrake, and the Dying Slave by Michelangelo.

History of Louvre Museum

The Louvre was formed in several phases. In the late 18th century, the formerly the royal palace, now the Louvre, became a public museum. The building of the museum was initially a royal castle and fortress in late 12th century that was built by Philip II.

During the power of Pierre Lescot various paintings arts and precious works by Leonardo and by other masters of Italy came under the royal collections of worthy arts. The Cardinal Richelieu gathered the art with funds of the state and the work on the palace building remained under work of Louis XIII.

In 1624, the arts and designs of Lescot were extended by Jacques Lemercier under Louis XIV and it was completed by Louis Le Vau and Claude Perrault and in 1750 arts pieces of the royals was put on sight in the Luxembourg fortress.

The collection of French realm over centuries has taken the collective efforts men of the illuminations and explanations and also the campaigns that determined archaeological during the 19th century.

Finally the inauguration of the Louvre Museum in year 1793 that has taken the history has destined the shift from the privately owned collected works of the state classes that includes realm, nobility and cathedral to the public owned corridors to have the benefit of the entire cultures. This was the reason that the Louvre was the set model for all major national museums of the European and American. To build the palace in beautiful and historic manner was the aim of President Mitterand as he had authorized the Grand Louvre project: to revitalize Paris's heart.
