The movie, The lost Boys of Sudan is an award winning movie directed by Megan Mylan and John Shenk. The directors have portrayed the scenes of the civil war and have helped in creating awareness about the situation when the teenagers from Sudan were brought to the United States by a number of social agencies and church services to start a new life in the United States. The movie depicts the difficult and the hard times that these teenagers had to face when they were forced to emigrate from Sudan to the United States. This paper will discuss the movie.

Since the outbreak of civil war in Sudan in 1983, five million people have been left homeless. Among them were some twenty-six thousand children who were separated from their families. Thousands fled to refugee camps in Ethiopia and remained there for about three years. Being forced to move again, walked on foot for a year through Sudan to northern Kenya, suffering the attack of the soldiers, bandits, disease and wild animals. Only half of the children survived these gruelling trips, and eventually were taken to the Kukama camp. Relief agencies were called "the Lost Boys of Sudan."
The movie depicts the story of Santino and Peter, who had been a part of the civil war in their country, and were invited to immigrate to the United States. Their refugee camp moved from Kenya to Texas, and the movie explains the hardships and the life of the two young men.
