She has been a registered nurse since 1990. She initially rendered her services in neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and internal medicine wards. During her career, she also specialized in anesthetic and diabetes care. After that, she engaged herself in the care of long term chronically ill elderly people and worked in home care. In the interview she has shared her point of view about her profession especially in home care.

Q. Ho do you explain home care in the light of your experience?

Kate: Home care, to me, is the heart of the district nurse's work. It greatly differs from hospital care as I think medical professional perspective reigns and dictates in the hospital. I gradually came to know that the only way for developing a long term relations with patients especially elderly, and which is fulfilling for both the parties, is to eliminate the nurse's professional role and make efforts to behave like a partner with the patient.
