Arizona Senate Bill 1070

The recent Arizona SB 1070 bill has influenced 22 other states to introduce similar legislation. Pre-filing for the upcoming Texas legislative session has produced four bills with components of Arizona SB 1070: HB 17 (Riddle), HB 113 (Harless), SB 124 (Patrick, Dan), HB 296 (Berman) and SB 126 (Patrick, Dan). The first three bills are similar; state officials, agencies, and law enforcers will fully enforce the federal Immigration and Nationality Act and create a criminal trespass offense for undocumented immigrants in Texas (Montejano, p. 25).
