Liver Cancer

Introduction

The incidence of liver cancer is increasing in the Western World, and this statement leaves no doubts, no prospective studies that provide a turnaround over the next decade. The percentage of Americans who suffer from liver cancer has been gradually increasing for several decades. Liver cancer is more common in men than in women, but this cancer is relatively uncommon in both groups. Liver cancer is a disease where liver cells become abnormal and grow out of control and form a cancerous tumor. The right side of the abdomen, between the diaphragm and stomach, the liver is one of the largest organs. The liver performs many important functions: filter out harmful substances from the blood, produces bile, which is useful to digest the fats in the food, stores glycogen, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Its duties are many and important (Zou, 2010).

The smoke element is linked to cancers of the liver far more undervalued. In America, cases of illness associated with tobacco dependence, in fact, exceed those associated with hepatitis. This does not mean, experts warn, that smoking is a cause of liver cancer itself as there are no scientific data that show, but that should be considered more carefully, and especially those who already have other risk factors must say goodbye to cigarettes. Excessive alcohol consumption is a major cause of cirrhosis in the United States, which is associated with an increased risk of liver cancer. Some studies have found a link between smoking and cancer of the liver, although this association appears to be higher among people with viral hepatitis or drinking too much alcohol.

How Drugs Damage the Liver

Liver Cancer is a Liver chronic disease for smoker. Among the many diseases caused by the consumption of smoking, liver cancer is one of the most aggressive and lethal. Liver cancer, a disease almost unique at the beginning of the twentieth century is the leading cause of cancer death in men and women. It is a cancer that, despite being the most common human suffering and leading to increased mortality, is also one of the most easily preventable, since it is estimated that the smoking is directly responsible for 92% of the cases. The worst problem of liver cancer is the difficulty to detect it there.

If the liability of tobacco in the genesis of liver cancer is clear and has long demonstrated the role of alcohol remains controversial. Alcohol as a risk factor for liver cancer is especially difficult to show that heavy smokers, and therefore at high risk of liver cancer, are often heavy drinkers. Many substances, it is estimated that nearly 1,000-can damage the liver. Among them include and non-prescription drugs, illegal drugs and herbal remedies from medicinal plants. In the worst cases, drug toxicity can cause acute liver failure, which requires a liver transplant and is sometimes fatal. In fact, drug toxicity is the first cause of acute liver failure and liver toxicity (hepatotoxicity) is the most common reason ...
