Little Black Boy

All are Equal

This poem has aimed to reconcile the underprivileged humanity to have their morale elevated against all the odds of life. In the poem the poet has elaborated the facts about life by exploring the life of a black person. In his tender young age his mother wants to make him believe in the good side rather than developing dark side in his perception. She teaches the boy the good values their religion: Christianity has taught them. The work has focused on the importance of afterlife. Even when you go through a lot of hardships in your life, your Lord will take you within him in heaven. Blacks have always been the victim of discrimination. The poet has expanded the two factors: the severity of life and discrimination. This life is just the exam and the long lasting life starts after the end of all undesirable hardships. Religion supports the individuality of any person regardless of its color and complexion. People in the word receive different treatment according to their status in the society (Vaughn, 2007).

Nature's Play

The mother in this poem is trying to uphold her son's belief and faith in the presence of God. God is nature and nature is all around us. The poem says that in the end all have to go to Lord where He will not discriminate and judge the people according to their assigned roles in the world. If someone sees at nature, he can sense the presence of God. Everyone has allocated role in the world and by believing in Lord, one has to execute his responsibilities.
