Litigation is a court of justice for the purpose of enforcing a right. Litigation is a costly, cumbersome way to handle the claims and the correctional programs. Most suits that the prisoners file are dismissed before the trial; the remaining cases force the correctional officers to expand time and resources in litigation, with the possibility o face the lawsuit personally, and to risk the erosion of their leadership. The correctional administration charges that much litigation is designed to hassle them. Most of the prisoners face the problems like they lack the legal representation, constitutional standards are complicated to meet and even if suit succeeds, the changes in the financial compensation take time. There are four alternatives that appear in the correctional system of the state, the inmate grievance procedures, an ombudsman, mediation, and legal assistance (Morris 1997).
The Necessity of Jails
Jails are one of the integral parts of criminal justice system. They are important to implement the justice reforms and punish the wrongdoers. They provide social safety and ensure that the criminals are not at large. Prisons serve as institutions to sustain the law and justice in a state. They serve as a mean of managing the offender population, and do so on the basis of criminal laws and regulations. There are about 330 jails in United States, and these jails not only punishes the offenders but are affiliated with the rehabilitation and correctional institutions which help to reform the prisoners. This is one of the important social reformations that are achieved by the presence of jails in a society (Seiter 2011).
Treatment Programs
The in and out vision treatment programs are essential to ensure that the prisoners underrates the moral values and the possibility to repeating the criminal act is reduced. The purpose is to reflect the abiding belief that work skills and education are integral aspects securing the employment and being a productive citizen.
