I'm Going! A Comedy in One Act

The literary work revolves around humor and amusements in a marriage relationship. It is a short play presenting some aspects of problems developed gradually in a marriage relationship along the course of time. The play presents tow persons; a wife and husband arguing on a simple matter on a Sunday morning. The author shows, how inflexibility in relationships spoils certain aspects of life. The author further presents through his imagination, how a small matter and argument shows the cracks and capacities of a relationship and its motivation towards love, mutual understanding and sacrifice.

The play grabbed my interest to a great extent, due to its ability to create curiosity. The play encouraged me to constantly think what is going to happen next. Henri, the husband, and his wife Jeanne, both of them were not willing to let go their wishes. Henri was inflexibly committed to going to the races, alone. However, his wife Jeanne was constantly arguing and requesting, which showed that her Sunday preferences remained unchanged. Moreover, the trust was seemed to be weak among them as Henri insisted to stay at home when he mistakenly realized that his wife was, please for him to go to the races.

Marriage relationships are often considered the strongest and yet most vulnerable to mistrust. One of the reasons, it captured my interest was that it beautifully portrays the preferences and problems of a common married couple. Moreover, at the start of the play, author beautifully portrays the differences in personal grooming priorities while alone and with a lady.
