We understand only very old Egyptian tales (as opposed to very old Egyptian laments, instructions, prayers and the like) and even less of those have come down to us in entire form. "The Tale of Sinuhe" though has been maintained in more exact replicates than any other work from that period. It was evidently popular in those vintage times. And no wonder.
