Introduction

Right from the beginning of the concept of linguistics, linguistics has developed in two contrasting directions: I-perspective perspective and the E-perspective perspective. Of course, like any polar distinction, this simplifies a complex area of ??research in which scientists do not always restrict their exploration to a clearly defined territory, and in which, as we shall see, the changes also respond to technological innovations and advances in other science. However, it is possible that the dichotomy is certainly quite close to what is happening in linguistics at least since the 1970's, although in recent years has developed a new approach which, although controversial, seems to overcome in various respects to the directions above (MacWhinney, 1985,, 51).

Discussion

The confrontation between the I-linguistics and e-linguistics could be described by comparison with a game of chess. Just as the history of chess and shapes of the pieces are considered as external factors and are not important for the rules of the game, the history of a language and the impact of factors of the community on the development of language are not significant for the language. I-perspective linguistics, then, constitutes the linguistic “rules of the game,” i.e. the study of the mental perspectives of playing the game, understanding the system of the linguistic units and their relationship with each other, the functioning of the units within the system (MacWhinney, 1985,, 51).

With regard to I-perspective of linguistics, a language is a system that obeys its own order, and in the I-perspective of linguistics, it is very important to understand the knowledge of the rules of linguistics. According to the work of Chomsky in the field of linguistics, we can draw a pre-eminence between the internal and the external language. In this context of use, the internal language would apply to the analysis of the semantics and syntax in a language, as presented through the knowledge by a native speaker. The external perspective of language is applicable to the language in a social context, i.e. the behavioural practices that are shared in between the member of a community. The internal perspective of linguistics examines the supposition that every aboriginal speaker of a language can be described as homogeneous in the way in which they perceive their language. The I-perspective focuses on the cognitive perspectives of language, and examines everything from the perspective of mental recognition. The I-perspective of language focuses on the concept of linguistic competence in the language, which can be defined as the scheme of knowledge of a language that is owned by resident speakers of a language. This concept is in sharp contrast to the idea of linguistic performance, (which is used by E-perspective of linguistics), i.e. the way the system of language is utilized in the process of communication.From the perspective of I-language, language could be defined as a system of computation, which is programmed in the brain of a human, or has formed a property of the brain of an individual.
