Profile Essay on the life of a Doctor

In an attempt to write a profile essay, we chose the profile of a doctor who works in managed healthcare. He was interveiwed on the subject of managed health care. The doctor's name was John Willey who is employed in managed health care in Savannah, Georgia. A thorough interview was conducted with him to identify his values, work ethics and managed healthcare. Below is the transcription of his interview. He was asked a number of questions and gave the below mentioned responses.

Interviewer: In your opinion, please explain the techniques involved in managed care?

Doctor: I acknowledged your question about the techniques followed in medical practise and managed care. The techniques employed in medical care are of great importance to people understanding it. I have my own opinion and concerns, Managed Care includes the number of techniques for controlling and influencing the clinical behavior of the providers of health care services or patients. The core aim of managed care is to make sure that managerial control placed over the cost of quality, and provides access to the health care services.

Interviewer: What are your views regarding the dimensions of the health care programs in United Sates?

Doctor: Nevertheless, United States has always stood up with great attributes regarding the dimensions of health care. But during this era, the United States government was in substantial burden. The dimension of the Program of Health Care and the increase in expenses for health care for older adults stimulated the federal regime for offering the “Managed Care” in 1970's and 80's.

Interviewer: We usually talk about purpose of Health Maintenance Organizations. What are your main concerns towards it?

Doctor: Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO's) is undoubtedly the biggest category of the managed care providers in the United States. The basic focus of this organization is to keep the cost down by dealing with the large number of people. It helps the one to keep lowers the fees needed for providing the medical facilities and doctors charges.

Interviewer: What are the different plans &/ or organizations that are associated to Managed Care?

Doctor: Preferred Provider is another organization, which provides the services of managed care this organization is flexible, and they cost more money. Point of service plans a managed care plan which helps and encourages their users, and avail the cure from the indoor of the system.

For my profile essay, I decided to interview Dr. John Willey who conducts his medical practice in Savannah, Georgia. It was a good experience. I got to know many things about the professional life of a doctor and the complexities involved in it. We primarily spoke about managed health care and about health insurance plans and their provisions.
