Subject: Request for child custody

The letter is intended to get the custody of my child. This letter is to request the court to issue an order for custody of my child. My Child (Name of Child) Date of Birth, and Case Reference. I have always been concern for the good life of my child, his education and safety. I believe that I could give my child better attention and care than anyone in the world.

It is a universal fact that a young child is more attached to the mother and need her attention, care, and loves more than a father or immediate family. The similar situation is replicated in my case as my child is only 5 years old and need maternal affection. This is only possible if he receives maximum time and support from me. No one can deny this fact that a mother alone can understand the basic needs of an infant as she is the person to whom the child shows initial attachment and communicates his petty concerns.

I can fully justify my request for his custody as it is an obvious fact that when a child is born in the early years of his life, his contact with the mother has a very special significance. Motherhood is primarily based on the immense trust and love. Mother through contact with child develops and strengthens the confidence in him. Thus it is properly developed in terms of mental health, children without mother feels deficiency and isolation. The most important person in life is the mother and no matter if it is 2 years or 5 or 10 (Maclean, 1994). A child is almost helpless without mother and feels difficulties throughout the life.
