Introduction

Human globalization phenomenon is leading to the formation of a new and unique social world and cultural diversity is considered to be the main constituent of human globalization. The most important and leading social organization is the organization of health services. Thus, the need for nurses in providing appropriate and effective care to the huge quantity of people living in contemporary and diverse social communities has become significant and essential (Seaton, 2010). New skills, theories and concepts are required for providing proper nursing care in today's diverse and contemporary culture. In order to ensure that these demands are properly met, new understanding and knowledge is playing an effective role in providing proper health care to the human beings. Understanding and implementation of the nursing theories in ensuring best nursing practices has become a great challenge in today's nursing field (Seaton, 2010).

Concepts and assumptions of Leininger's theory

The theory of culture care which have been proposed and developed by Madeleine Leininger states that nurses are able to grant with culturally congruent care solely when the culture care practices, expressions and patterns of people are identified (Sagar, 2012). This culture theory offers a holistic and comprehensive means for understanding the aspects which are affecting faculty of nursing in teaching cultural care. The sunrise enabler portrays the social structure dimensions, worldview and care patterns, practices and expressions which plays an essential role in teaching culture care. In nursing practices, social and cultural dimensions are the major aspects which are required to consider when providing care; whether giving educating nursing students, addressing care needs of an institution or giving patient care (Sagar, 2012). The dimensions of the culture care theory are comprised of a wide range of aspects. These dimensions include cultural beliefs, lifeways and values as well as philosophical/religious, technological, social/kinship, legal/political, educational and economic factors.

Concepts

Leininger's theory of culture care incorporates new terms for the fundamental principles of her theory. It is necessary for nurses to understand the tenets and definitions of the Leininger's theory of culture care. Developing an understanding of the tenets and definitions of the theory is extremely crucial (Anonymous, 2003). Following are some fundamental tenets which are necessary to understand for effective nursing practices while implementing culture care theory of Leininger.

Care is related to assisting others with anticipated or real needs in an attempt for improving a human situation of facing death or concern.

Care is an activity or action which directs its practitioners to provide adequate and proper care (Anonymous, 2003).

Culture is referred to shared, transmitted and learned beliefs, values, lifeways and norms of a particular group or individual that guides their actions, decisions, thinking and patterned ways of living.

Culture care is referred to various factors of culture that enable and influence a group or person for dealing with death or illness or improving their human conditions (Anonymous, 2003).
