Introduction

The illegal usage of drugs is very prevalent in our country today. The problem has gotten so severe, that many options are being considered to control it or even solve it. The war on drugs does not seem to be accomplishing enough, and different options need to be considered. Legalization is an option that hasn't gotten a chance but should be given one. Although many people feel that legalizing drugs would increase the amount of use, drugs should be legalized because it will reduce the great amounts of money spent on enforcement and it will increase our country's revenue.

For several decades drugs have been one of the major global problems. Tribulations caused by Drugs are so wide that it was proscribe ethically, religiously, socially and legally. This was a rational and beneficial consideration, as substances such as these can be addictive, mind-altering, and in some cases lethal. At present, in most of the countries, many different drugs such as cocaine, heroin, crack, ice and marijuana are illegal. But with the passage of time ethics and laws are being measured and argued over. One of such issues is the legalization of drugs.

Discussion

It is clear that most of the serious problems the public associates with illegal drug use are, in reality, caused directly or indirectly by drug prohibition. One controversial solution is the proposal of legalizing drugs. Although people feel that legalizing drugs would lessen crime, but there would be an increase of drug abuse and a rapid increase of diseases such as AIDS. So what should be done to reduce the crime rate it should be legalized or it should remain illegal to avoid the increase in drug abuse n AIDS. The question of whether to legalize drugs or not is a very controversial and important issue.

Ethical Issue about Legalization

'Legalization of drugs', dealing with an issue like this, one has to draw upon his values to come up with a decision. Considering this issues one cant avoid the significance of ethics and social values. When looked at this issue one has to take into account his values and apply them to this situation and then come up with his own position, individually. Because each of an individual has different values so it may not come up with the same position. Secondly values are situation specific and each situation is different from the next, and an answer for one situation may not be the right answer for the next situation.

An individual has to look at all sides thoroughly and understand the issue before he comes to a conclusion. We all are aware that each drug has a positive or a negative effect, or how much these effects affect the body even the drugs that are used in hospitals and are prescribed by doctors.
