Legal analysis in defense of defendant President Paul Kagame

Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda is accused with heavy allegations. These allegations include the genocide of 1994 in Rwanda and murder of President. They accusers believes that President Paul Kagame and his allies are direcltly involve in the genocide of 1994 which engulfed thousand lives of innocent people. At the same time, there are many points that can be present in the defense of Paul kagame. Through analyzing these points it maintain the fact that President Paul Kagame's case is very in his favor and the opposing parties have weak witnesses and arguments. On the legal grounds, President Kagame has diplomatic immunity under Vienna convention of 1961, which gives clear understanding about the fact that the President of Rwanda cannot be persecuted. Some of the important points which make this case in the favor of President Paul Kagame are discussed further in the assignment.

Paul Kagame is having Diplomatic immunity

Being the president of Rwandam, Paul Kagame holds diplomatic immunity. According to Vienna convention of 1961 on diplomatic relations, it is well defined that president of any country is a diplomate. President is actually a diplomate of highest rank and therefore, president is immune from any accusations. Paul kagame is the president of Rwanda and therefore he cannot be persecuted in any crime which he has committed in past. However, President Paul Kagame is facing many accusations of Rwanda's genocide of 1994. ( Dallaire, 2005)

This is the strongest argument of defending a case launched against President Kagame, which is accusing President Kagame for the genocide of 1994 in Rwanda. The entire nations, including United States of America has agreed upon the Vienna convention of 1961 on diplomatic relations. Therefore, America as the sole super and the promulgator of human rights in the world is also urging for the immunity of Paul kagame. Paul kagame, the President of Rwanda cannot be persecuted until and unless he is at seat of presidency.

Progressive image of President Kagame

The main point which makes a defense of Paul Kagame strong is his progressive image. He represented himself and his country as an independent and sovereign country where the government can practice the legislations made by their own. By the global community, his image is seen as a progressive leader, who made the decision for his country by his own. One of the most major defending points which come across in this case in the favor of Paul Kagame is that he leads a country with a sovereign philosophy. He has rejected the idea which gives an impression that all the countries having black people are under the dominancy of their former colonial masters. His major achievements which make his images as a progressive and independent leader are different awards from global community.
