Introduction

Johnson & Johnson is a leading multinational company founded in 1887, headquarter located in New Brunswick, New Jersey, United States. It is mainly concerned in the business of pharmaceutical and consumer goods. It has around two hundred and fifty subsidiary companies engaged in operations all over the world. It was founded by joined brothers Robert Wood Johnson, James Wood Johnson and Edward Mead Johnson. Robert Wood Johnson was the first the first president of the Company and after his death James Wood Johnson became the second president. Since the establishment the company has increased its line of product all over the world and has been engaged in diversified fields of operations and large variety of products. Johnson & Johnson has also bought the Pfizer which is one of the major health care and pharmaceutical companies. Major Initiatives Planned for the Next 5 Years

Johnson & Johnson has planned their major initiatives for the five years. According to New Brunswick, NJ (September 20, 2011) Johnson & Johnson main concern is the improvement of health of women and children by 2015. This is the considered as the global strategy and mainly focused on declining the mortality rate in children and women. For this purpose the company has taken various productive initiatives to bring improvement in the life standard of women and children all over the world and especially in the third world countries.

Various measures have been taken like;

Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA) this involves the phone services to provide the parental and post birth information to the expecting mothers. In this other international health care organizations are involved such as USAID and United Nations Foundation.

Another program is the Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) which is to provide facilities for the safe births especially in countries like Uganda and Malawi.

One Million Health Workers Challenge is the training and support program for the front line health workers to improve health of mothers and children in developing countries.

Children Without Worms program is to treat the children with the problem of intestinal worms. For this purpose there is donation of mebendazole doses in various countries.

Eliminating Mother to Child Transmission of HIV is already initiated since 2003 but there are certain advancements made in this program.
