Learning Varieties

Introduction

The ability of learning develops in an individual when he has the capability and desire to do something or achieve something. According to Gagne, there are different capabilities through which the learning outcomes of the individual take place. Gagne has developed five varieties of learning, which include verbal information, attitudes, cognitive strategies, intellectual skills and motor skills. These learning varieties provide a proper guide of the learning performances and outcomes of an individual.

In this paper, three of the learning varieties have been discussed i.e. motor skills, information and attitudes. The learning outcomes and examples of these learning varieties are also discussed in this paper.

Learning Outcomes

Following are the three learning outcomes according to Gagne and their examples.

Motor Skills

The ability to implement this or that movement without conscious control over them formed in the training are the motor skills. During training, the individual creates a conceptual model of the motion, which integrates knowledge of the performed motor task, the means and methods for its solution, and the image of the specific situations in which the motion. Based on these elements within the movement actualization already spent motor skills relevant to the motor task. Moreover, the configuration of the system of perception, and forms a complex of expected afferent, thereby increasing the sensitivity to certain elements of the external and internal environment (Gagné & Briggs, 1974).

Following are some of the examples which I utilized in the work environment for the students.
