A learning agreement is essentially a study plan which provides an outline of the courses, subjects and field of research (Sulman, et al., 2001, p. 35). Between the counselor, client, and placement, a learning agreement is important for a number of reasons. Firstly, a learning agreement ensures the confidentiality of data between the counselor and the client. This is essential for the establishment of a relationship of trust between both of them.
