Introduction

Multicultural teams usually produce frustrating dilemmas pertaining to management. As a matter of fact, differences in the cultural background have the potential to create hurdles to effective team work. In fact, the damage would be so latent that it would be difficult to ascertain until a significant detriment happens. Many a times, problems have been observed in the teams where people from diversified cultures. Research has proved that cultural challenges are manageable, if and only if the right kind of approach is chosen. At the same time it is also pertinent to avoid approaches which are oriented towards a particular approach within the multicultural environment. Most of the times people perceive that challenges within the multicultural environment emerge as a result of different communication style. However, this is just a single aspect of the whole story; there are other dimensions which are equally responsible for such a chaos (Adler, 2008).

The prime focus of this paper is over a multicultural team consisting of six team members from different cultures. Each of the team members is of different personality style and has different preferences. However, the challenge is to create a cohesive force and an environment of team-work within the group and the delivery of product within the period of six months. Hence, this paper will discuss how the opportunity of creative cohesiveness of the team can be brought about and to create a force which can ultimately amalgamates the whole team structure.

Discussion

Cultural clash or conflicts, by and large, are present every in most of the workplace settings, even there will hardly be any workplace environment where different people from different cultures work together without any kind of conflict. However, the need is to solidify or to build a multicultural team. As a matter of fact, in this regard, the initial step is to narrow the gulf of cultural differences through enhanced level of awareness. In fact, the recognition that the communication would make each of the things involved to run smoother is the foundation stone to solve the problem related to multicultural teams or workplace settings. Due to the varying nature, each of the people in particular team tends to behave in a certain direction based on his/her own preferences as well as tastes (Northouse, 2012).

As a matter of fact, the team members within the team are from different cultural backgrounds ranging from African American, Chinese American, Asian American, and Indian to Iranian. Each of the members represents a diverse background and based on this, they include different sort of values and well as cultural standards. Sometime, there happens conflict between two cultures or may arise a problem related to adoption of the particular trends of culture.
