Identification of the leader in an organization

The leader selected for the study is the Senior Vice President of marketing at Wal- Mart Stores, Inc. The role of this leader is to develop and execute a properly defined communications and marketing strategy in a way that supports the current business operations of the company, consistent growth in the business and enhances the awareness and brand equity of the organization. The Senior Vice President of marketing at Wal- Mart Stores, Inc. is responsible for planning, staffing, organizing, managing and training the functions related to marketing of Wal- Mart in order to achieve the objectives of the company in terms of growth, sales, visibility and profitability of the organization (Hollensen, 2010). They ensure a consistent message of marketing provided to the potential customers and maintain a position that is in line with the corporate direction. The specific responsibilities of the SVP marketing at Wal- Mart Inc. include the following.

They create, coordinate, manage and execute all the strategies of marketing at Wal- Mart Inc. and integrate the tactical plans that meet the expectations of the company

They extend unique value proposition, category management, business partnership of Wal- Mart with other companies and call for advertising programs that are formulated to target the key segments of customers in order to increase and enhance the brand awareness among the customers

The SVP marketing Wal- Mart also manage and lead the public relations, direct marketing, online marketing, advertising, internal creative services and event marketing for Wal- Mart Inc.
