Introduction

The success of an organization depends on many factors, none more important than the impact of its leaders. The successful organization has one major attribute that sets it apart from unsuccessful organizations: dynamic and effective leadership. Podsakoff, et.al, (1990) pointed out that managers (business leaders) are the basic and scarcest resource of any business enterprise.

Antonakis & Atwater (2002) made this point more evident: "Of every 100 new business establishments started, approximately 50, or one half, go out of business within 2 years. By the end of 5 years, only one-third of the original 100 will still be in business." Most of these failures can be attributed to ineffective leadership.

Judge & Piccolo (2004) defined 21st century leadership as requiring managers to demonstrate and lead through wisdom and practices that make accomplishments happen for the business organization while also fully engaging the workforce. Management practices have required moving beyond the appearance of leadership to real practices and behaviors.

Strengths in Establishing Relationships

The leadership in a business environment is based on its relationship with all the people associated with the business. These relationships are the fuel that leads to the success of the business. The leaders of the entrepreneurs are supposed to maintain and sustain stronger relationships with the customers, employees, and stakeholders and even with the competitors. For establishing these relationships, the leaders have to develop strengths in their styles and personalities (Popper, 2004).

The feedback and the response towards the business from its associated people within and outside the premises is one of the strengths in the establishment of relationship. It should be welcomed pertaining to its honest nature as the business would flourish more and get stronger if the leaders are aware of the current standing of the business in the market. The leaders should also tend to be good listeners rather than relying on talking. Listening to the thoughts and ideas of the associated people and responding them adequately will assist the business in moving towards success (George, 2010).

Moreover, the leaders should have the strengths of honestly responding to their vulnerabilities, having eye-to-eye contact with their people, encouraging other people, maintaining trust among all, daring to ask whenever needed, and staying confident and passionate to their work. This all will assist them in establishing stringer relationship with other associated with the business. These areas are needed to be improved in order to sustain leadership relationships within and outside the organization (Popper, 2004).
