Results attained through the analysis of data collected using several questionnaires and tests given in the Northhouse textbook effectively highlighted some of my characteristics that introduce me as a leader. The outcomes of the questionnaires and the leadership characteristics they intercepted in me will be mainly discussed in this assignment. Leadership Traits Questionnaire (LTQ) allowed me to compare how I view myself as a leader in comparison to that of others perception about my leadership attitude and behavior. The purpose of the instrument is basically to assess my strengths and weaknesses by comparing my answers with that of my peers as it will indicate the area where my perceptions are congruent with others, in addition to the discrepancies. After computing all the average ratings and analyzing it, it appears that I rated myself a bit lower than my raters did in some categories including articulation, perspective, self-confidence, self-assurance, conscientiousness, and diligence. According to the LTQ, my strongest leadership traits are determination, trustworthiness, dependability, extroversion, sensitivity, and empathic attitude.
My scores based on skill inventory have provided information about my leadership skills in three areas. These areas measure three types of managent skills known as technical, human and conceptual skills.
I fall in the high range for all three leadership skill categories. My scores are 30, 26, 23 ordered as human, conceptual and technical skills. These scores helped me to determine the level of management best suited for me. I found out that middle level management would be best for me as it requires the combination of three skills I cored lower in the technical skills test and that is quite believable for me. Being aware of not only where I stand but where others stand as well on the same issue at work is important to me.
