Impact of Social Marketing Tools On leadership

Introduction

The leaders of global era are facing more challenges now than ever before. Modern electronic communication systems have changed the very concept of leadership. Now leaders have to cope with complexity of modern communication tools, and know without which it is very difficult for him to occupy a high position in leader's role. Responsibilities are ever greater now for leaders to equip themselves with modern communications tools as social marketing tools like face book, twitter, MySpace have become of crucial importance to the business world, instead of merely playing status of socialization in the society. The rest of paper will discuss how things have changed over time and trace out avenues in modern electronic communication to be covered in order to build strong leadership.

In recent years, we have observed a fragmentation and change of working modes and patterns. Hotels, cafes, bars, trains and airport terminals are increasingly used as a workplace. We now live in an age in which information about work, the traditional boundaries of space and time are redefined (Boal, 2007).

The technology has blurred, the traditional distinctions between work environments and buildings, and many companies increasingly a virtual approach to the work area. This brings ever greater challenges for leadership to work and use resources of an electronic age more efficiently. With a workforce that is scattered across different locations and time zones. Although technology makes more ways of working, it can also spread through the use of social networking to facilitate leadership needs for decision making. In this article we will discuss the overall impact of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, email and Internet technology and to understand the complexity of the management perspective, which was recently developed by Outlook to use modern technology in an efficient and effective way to ensure organizational success.

Bell et al. (2008) argue that managing a distributed workforce and ever-busier depends on the creation of the spirit and teamwork that generate for leadership to continue to provide new ideas. Now that work can take place anywhere, in the office, rather than a place where people come just to work, is now increasingly an opportunity for people, personal involvement in the corporate culture means and the values and beliefs of the organization, which ultimately support leaders to work in better way to achieve success (Bell, 2008). But for remote workers, which are generally outside the office for long periods, it is increasingly difficult to immerse themselves in organizational culture. Social networking sites offer, opportunities for formal and informal interaction and collaboration with colleagues and clients, the transfer of knowledge and communication tools.
