The learning outcomes would be the full know how of the leadership term, the differences between leadership and management and the similarities as well which would make the terms understandable for me. Usually the terms leader and managers are used as synonyms which I will test here .Then I would learn different approaches of leadership and will evaluate in the most proper way & with insight that which approach should be proper for public health setting. And, the third thing would be how the policies influencing the leadership style. The focus of my assignment would be learning and developing a sense for the leadership issues faced by public health setting and what could be the key factors to improve the leadership capability in the sector. By knowing all this, I would be able to realize what is needed and at what level the things are to be performed to get the positive results at the most of it (Cilente, 2009).
Leadership
Leadership is the ability of a person to deal with the circumstances, occurred in the processes with the strength to manage the people by conducting such behavior, which seems inspiring for all. Leader is not the boss but the personality which enables you to follow him. The quality to lead others makes the person different. Sometimes the quality is God given and sometimes it is developed through certain methods. The leaders understand them well and know what they can do. The inspiring capability of the leader determines his capability to work as the one who make people to understand him. Leader understands the overall strategies going on and makes people understand how to work on them. The person who has the quality of leadership is not the stagnant one; the trait enables him to pursue growth at every moment. Leaders seek improvement in every work they do. They know when to communicate and when to motivate their followers.
Behaviorist Theory
When trait theory was not a success as the traits are hard to measure like honesty, loyalty, and integrity cannot be measured. After years of work most prominent studies were conducted by Michigan University and Ohio State University and both the researches were done with that leadership behavior can be mentioned into two groups. Production centered Behavior and Employee centered behavior. These behaviors were identified by Michigan University (Rensis Likert).By the name of the conclusion it is clear that production centered would be more oriented towards the work procedures and performance while Employee centered is when leader proved to be the one who can produce cohesive work group. Ohio State identified two groups as well which were Initiating Structure and Considering Structure in which initiating structure were work oriented while considering structure were employee oriented.
