Abstract

The paper discusses about the leadership skills and how it should be implemented in an organization. The main focus of the research is on transformational leadership skills of middle managers and its relation with the performance of frontline employees. Considering the company of Julphar, the Gulf Pharmaceutical Industry and how its manager Azeem Shah has played its role in managing and implementing business strategies that might benefit the organization. After going through his approach and leadership style one can predict that he is a visionary person and a situational leader, who makes his decisions depending on the kind of situation.

Introduction

Leadership is the term that is full of adhesions management far removed from the values of educational institutions and first contribution was actually driven through considering that it was linked to the characteristics and traits of the leader. Thus, the tendency for moving beyond the hierarchical, technical and rational models to go to the approaches which emphasis the cultural aspects symbolic, moral for leadership is often reflected around 90 in the notion of transformational leadership as a concept that is originated in the business and it moves to the field of education. It is a fact that organizations are currently involved in the dilemma for leadership and management development challenges that results in the lack of management abilities which usually rob the higher potential managers of critical on the job experiences, depleted resources for the employee development and a fast aging workforce that results in the decline of the experienced managerial talent of leadership positions. The “new leadership” is a charismatic leadership, transformative, more visionary and flexible this instead of focusing on the extent for influencing on the followers or the management, it exercises the meaning through leadership (vision, commitment and culture) shared with members of the organization (Conger & Kanungo, 1998).

Another important aspect is the “teamwork”, where people work together for a single to achieve. The division of the effort can be linked into a single coordinated outcome, where entire collaboration is different from the sum of their different parts.

Discussion and Analysis

There are three major areas of need that should be analyzed by the management, which includes the task need, team maintenance and individual needs. If these needs are met, an organization will be able to achieve successful leadership strategies. This will lead towards performance indicators that allow the measurements for achievement (John, 2005).
