Leadership

Introduction

The process by which an individual has enough social influence through which he acquires and involve the help of others individuals in achieving a common goal. It is true that everybody cannot be a leader, yet it is also true that leaders are not born but are made. It is all dependent on the willpower and desire to become a leader. To be a good leader a person has to go through a continuous cycle of training and education, self study and experience.

To supervise and ensure great teamwork the most crucial role has to be played by the leader of the team. Leaders are important for better teamwork; they ensure that there are less conflicts and more harmony in team. The role of leadership is to get the groups attention at one focal point which is the common objective or goal. They have to play the role of a mediator in the team; defusing tensions and injecting humor and help people make the most out of their time and emerge from micro management. They are the ones who motivate and encourage teams and make people excited about their roles and responsibilities. Leaders have a broader perspective of everything and tend to look at the big picture rather than petty issues.

The job of a leader does not end with this but goes far enough to align the needs of the teams with that of the organizations. Leaders are managers who manage people and activities and bring out the best in them and achieve productivity.
