Chapter 5

According to the book Communication Law in a Nutshell, the chapter 5 of the book deals with explaining the command of the Press for Purposes of National Security. This chapter also provides the action which was taken against the press and the initiatives taken by the press by being self control. The question, which is of main concern here, is if the US government punished the press for publishing information. An inquiry has been carried out in this reference in American History. United States has been able to manage in flourishing for 215 years by warning the press to post anything against the government secrets. It has also been mentioned in the First Amendment that, “Congress should make no law in abridging the freedom of the press”. It has also been mentioned that the press should be held responsible for publishing obscenity, libel and false advertising. It has also been mentioned in the Law that the government secrets make the publication valuable by describing the truth.

The publication of the secrets of the government would be valuable for finding the secrets and proper functioning of the government in the society. It is also considered as a belief that the press should be punished for publishing Government secrets, which are fundamental, to the code of belief of public accountability. There was also a report launched by the President and adopted by the Supreme Court. It stated that the study of National Defense Strategy involves the media can design campaigns of defamation of government actions against the dissemination of incorrect information. The media groups are also accused of lobbying governments and institutions in order to obtain economic benefits. This suspicious behavior would make the US state vulnerable. The study adopted by the Supreme Court states that it is amazing to hear a government of a may consider that the press is a threat to national security. This no longer belongs to some dictatorial regimes that use national security to all the time to legalize censorship and the imprisonment of many journalists. The international scope of such positions in a strategy document is certainly not to minimize. Items relating to the impact of media as part of the strategy of defense are simply irrelevant.
