Introduction

The author selected the case study 1 in which the main character is Karen Miller. The case study described that Miller showing the symptoms that lead to the learning disabilities and learning difficulties. Therefore, to give the readers a better understanding of the term, the author tried to explain the meanings of the term “Learning Disabilities”. According to the research, the problems of learning (learning disabilities, LD) vary among individuals. A person with problems of learning can have a kind of problem of learning different from another person. In the example presented in the case, Miller has trouble with her outward appearance and handling her child. Similarly, some people might face reading and spelling learning problem (Lerner, et. al., 2009, pp. 121-130). Another person might have problems with understanding math. Yet another person may have problems in each of these areas, as in the understanding of what other people say. Researchers believe that the problems of learning caused by differences in the functioning of the brain and how it processes information. Individuals with problems of learning are not "dumb" or "lazy." In fact, they typically have a level of intelligence, average or above average. What happens is that their brains process information in a way different.

Learning Disabilities and Learning Difficulties

This can be linked with the case because Miller had the idea what going around her but she not able to control the surroundings and that is why things started getting worse. The definition of "learning disability" comes from the Act for the Education of Individuals with Disabilities. IDEA is the federal law that guides Community Learning Disability Team putting all their efforts in providing proper treatment to Miller, so that she might able to live a healthy peaceful life with her child. However, the author is of the idea that there is no "cure" for learning disabilities (Levine & Munsch, 2011, pp. 91-97). They are for life. However, individuals with learning problems can progress much and can be taught ways to overcome the problem of learning. With the right help, individual with learning problems can and do learn successfully the basic and essential concepts of life.

The life that Miller currently living really pathetic that is the reason Learning Disability Team accepted for her counselling, however, the team still believe that there is not even a slight change in her attitude. The author further moved on to a next point where discussion turned towards the role Miller as a mother. The author found through the case that Miller was not at a good mother. She was living with one her boy friend who was found to be professional criminal.
