Introduction

This paper intends to provide an in depth analysis of the working procedures of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The process of deployment of uniform patrol resources will be explored and discussed in this particular paper. Underlying recommendations for the possible improvements within the working of Los Angeles Police Department will be provided after a deep routed analysis of the deployment of uniform patrol resources. Another important aspect that needs to be keeping in mind is that this paper is written keeping in view the perspectives of human resource management. The analysis will include an explanation of discretion in deployment given to the Los Angeles Police Department command staff. For the purpose of making the paper understandable easily; the paper is divided into four primary parts. The main parts of the paper are Patrol Plan and current deployment practices, COMPSTAT/crime response, community policing and response time, description of Los Angeles Police Department command staff structure/chain of command, and recommendations for improvement. In addition, the competencies of Program Evaluation, Program Management, and Quantitative Decision Making will be applied to this project.

This paper intends to provide a deep routed analysis about the deployment practices within the Los Angeles Police Department from the perspective of human resource management. The human resource management remains extremely important for providing an effective plan for deployment practices within Los Angeles Police Department. The significance of deployment practices revolve around the significance of human resource management practices as the human resource management is focused to attract and rotate the most talented and appropriate human resources as per the needs of the Los Angeles Police Department. This paper intends to provide underlying recommendations in order to improve the efficiency of the deployment practices being observed within the Los Angeles Police Department.
