Different roles and specializations that lawyers may undertake

Lawyer is a person who practices law. He has all the knowledge of legal theories and expertise in solving individualized issues. He is obliged to give legal advises to clients in all the legitimate concerns. He is the person who spent a great deal of time in learning law and then obtains a license to practice it.

There are a number of roles that a lawyer plays. A lawyer can be a legal advisor, counselor, attorney or solicitor. The main responsibility of the lawyer is to develop trust with their clients, since he is the one who acts on behalf of his lawyer and defends his clients from a number of legal proceedings. Here, he plays a mediating role to represent his client in court. Lawyer performs the role of advisor to assist his clients with issues such as divorce and other relationship matters, business conducts, and drafting contracts. He acts as a negotiator at times of settling conflicts.

There are many types of lawyer or specializations such as:

Attorney: It represents a person who has legal authority to act as an agent in business transactions.

Barrister: Barrister is a lawyer who has specialization in courtroom advocacy. Their responsibility includes giving specialized legal opinions as well as drafting legal pleads. Clients do not hire them directly instead solicitors retain them in order to speak on behalf of clients.

Solicitor: Their role is similar to barrister, but the difference is they have direct contacts with clients and they are involved in transactional legal proceedings such as signing contracts, and writing applications.

Criminal defense lawyer: They represent those people who are charged with committing a crime. Any lawyer can defend their clients involved in illegal activities, but criminal defense lawyers have this specialty specifically in handling such cases.

Corporate lawyers: Such lawyers are expert in corporate laws and its legal proceedings. Their purpose is to provide advises to corporations in legal rights as in accounting, bankruptcy, licensing, contract law and tax laws.

Civil lawyers: Civil lawyers are expert in civil laws. They are principally involved in contract laws such as a violation and issuance of contracts. They also resolve conflicts between individuals and organizations.

Role of Paralegals and Other Law Professionals

Paralegals are assistants to lawyers. They do not have a qualification as lawyer instead trained to undertake some legal proceedings. They provide assistance and legal services to lawyers in carrying out their judicial tasks. They have an enormous role in such as;

Their crucial role is to assist lawyers in court.

Handling activities as instructed by lawyers.

They undertake interviews of clients and witnesses.

They conduct a complete investigation of cases.

Conduct legal as well as factual research on legal issues.

Prepare legal documents

They draft pleadings and other notices.

Undertake divorce actions.
