Introduction

Brian Field (born 15 December 1934 - died 27 April 1979) was a crooked solicitor's clerk who was one of the masterminds of the Great Train Robbery. He was the crucial link between the key informant known only as Ulsterman(who came up with the idea of robbing the money laden night mail train and also provided the details of the schedule and contents of the trains) with the actual gang capable of planning and carrying out such a complex and large scale robbery. He was found guilty of Conspiracy to Rob but this was later overturned on appeal and he only served jail time for Obstruction of Justice, basically in relation to arranging the purchase of Leatherslade Farm, which was used as the gang's hideout.

Background

The petty criminals Brian and Paulie are friends since childhood. They grow up in a neighborhood in Boston on the south, which is predominantly inhabited by ethnic Irish Catholics. They work for a gangster what Brian's wife Stacy worries. The policeman suspected of Moran's friends and determined against them. Brian and Paulie are detained in prison and think about it, to stop the crimes. Lack of alternative brain and Paulie go after their release but their usual money to purchase. An old friend named Sully and dropouts, the Brian accidentally met again in a self-help group during detention motivated Brian to get away from drugs and to have his criminal career. In order not to endanger his family life, Brian decides actually for a regular work at the port, because after all, he is father of two. So Paulie has to go through alone and receives his next coup for this robbery then 50 years in prison

Reviews The organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival wrote that the film was a personal project Goodman, who processed their own experiences. What Does not Kill You is a character study that not only show the main characters, but also their environment.

Brian as a Criminal

Brian Goodman said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he considered his main characters as two of the few actors who are in it 35 years ago could imagine films shot - were men menas well.
