Introduction

L-3 a Delaware Corp. was founded in 1997 and it falls in aerospace and defense industry. Its head quarter is in New York City (USA). A major supplier in Intelligence, Control, inspection, communications and Reconnaissance(C3ISR) systems, modernization and maintenance of aircrafts and services to government officials. T-3 is serving as a leading service provider of large band of specialized electronic systems used by commercial and military platforms. The organization is serving the United States Department of Defense along its major contractors, U.S Government's intelligence agencies, Department of U.S Homeland Security, Departments of State, Foreign allied governments, foreign and domestic customers and other local government agencies linked with U.S. they follow a defined customer-focused strategy that focuses on the growing economic, political and market deriving factors. L-3's strong point is the ability to work in all types of environments. (Hodge et al., 2010)

Structure of L-3 Communications

L-3 is catering four business segments. The first segment is C3ISR in which, they provide ground-based and airborne products and services for the ISR global market, safe communications products for awareness and response in real situations and development of communications network systems for its clients. The capabilities of this segment extend to advanced photonics systems, airborne and ground-based ISR systems.

Second segment deals with government services in which they provide a complete band of technical, cyber security, advisory, IT related and engineering support services to the USA's military, government authorities and foreign allied governments. The capability of this segment extends to advisory and Assistance services, Engineering, integration, information technology, knowledge management and intelligence solutions. It helps in assessing the cyber threats by providing latest cyber solutions to support security missions at nation level.

In third segment: Aircraft Maintenance & Modernization(AM&M), L-3 focuses on up-gradation, sustainment, maintenance, modernization and logistics support services for U.S military and government aircrafts. Capabilities of this segment are Aero structure Fabrication and assembly, Aircraft Modification and Up gradation of aircrafts.

Fourth segment of L-3 is Electronic Systems that deals in a wide range of system services around many business areas related to marine and power systems, displays, aviation products, simulation & training, warrior systems, detection systems, telemetry and RF products, propulsion and power systems undersea warfare, ocean science products and applied technology. The capabilities of this segment are: Anti- Submarine warfare, applied technology and mine warfare systems. It holds almost four divisions in it. Currently, L-3 is providing platforms to serve three distinctive UAS segments on a large scale.
