The work based conflict which is commonly occurring is the conflict amidst colleagues. Our workplace has diversity in terms of employees belonging to different parts of the world. I have a mixture of Muslims, Christians and Hindus working in the same department as I am. The informal topic being discussed at our workplace is politics. It is the discussion of this topic that brings about a lot of negativity considering that one religion tends to stereotype the other and term it as being negative. One instance which I would like to highlight is that once amidst the discussion of the history of politics a British employee termed Muslims and Hindus as hypocrites when history of politics was being discussed. This enraged the Hindus and the Muslims and the argument turned into a huge fight with a tinge of manhandling. Before it grew worse I ensured that I let the manager know of the situation and how uncontrollable it has become. The manager instantly arrived and separated the British who had uttered such stereotypical statement.

I was taken aback by the violent reaction and empathized with the Muslims and the Hindus. I believe that people should not be stereotyped and calling someone a hypocrite is insensitive regardless of the situation or facts. I found the experience to be enlightening considering the fact that there are times when an individual is in a discussion and based on personal opinion ignoring the facts and the figures, tends to form a perception and judgment about a race, caste or religion. One should be careful before one utters anything an avoid negativity since nobody has the right insult on harass someone publicly and personally.
