Introduction

This book ''Knowing Jesus through the Old Testament'' written by Christopher J.H. Wright in 1995. This manuscript is about the relationship between Jesus Christ and Old Testament and also some connections of Jesus with David and Abraham. The author tries to relate Jesus Christ with the values, promises, writing, songs and stories written in the Old Testament. God's son Israel failed to fulfil his duties as a Messiah, and as a result, Jesus sent to fulfil the duties and mission. The Jews were prisoned and expected a saviour who would come to save them from the Romans. The writer tells that the Jesus fulfilled the promises and role of the Israel (the first son of God) that he was to perform. With the obedience and willingness of the Jesus, he made the mission and the Old Testament complete. However, there are also some areas in the book ''Knowing Jesus through the Old Testament'' where the reader and the reviewers have some objections and disagreements but which are minor as compared to the agreements.

Summary

There is a lot of confusion about Jesus that whom he is. He misunderstood in the past. The writer has helped explain whom he was, how he got his identity and goal from the Old Testament. The Old Testament was about the promises which Jesus fulfilled. The writer takes four Matthews for his book. Matthew 1 to 4. In the first Matthew, he proved that the completion of the Old Testament that how Jesus completed the Old Testament. In the second Matthew, he proved how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament promises. In the third Matthew, the Jesus came to know about his identity through stories of the Old Testament and also that he is a messiah. He has a mission, and he is so close to God and a son of God. In the Matthew 4, the writer proves that the Jesus was more obedient than Israel as he performed and fulfilled all those promises, which Israel failed to do, and hence Jesus proved to be more obedient son of God than Israel, and closer to the God because of his obedience.

This book is quite readable and easy for starters and the new readers as the writer have used short and uncomplicated sentences for the readers. He basically has compared the Old Testament and the New Testament and the significance, Importance and power of the Old Testament and how the Jesus became so close to the God after completing the Old Testament.

The writer explains how Bible encourages us to look at the patterns of the God's work and how that work was fulfilled by the Jesus. It shows the obedience of the Jesus to God and how he fulfilled the promises (Alexander. P, 2005).
