Judaism and Islam

Introduction

Islam and Judaism are monotheistic and hold to the words of a sacred scripture. Both religions appear to hold their own beliefs to be so truthful that they allow some of their beliefs to be compromised. This is present in the fact that both of these religions have and continue to feud each other surrounding their religious truths, rather than focusing more effort on their devotion to their worship. War over religion is not uncommon in any culture, however it seems to be the very demise of many cultures and only proves that humans are incapable of reaching true religious or spiritual actuality.

It is their way of sharing their faith and showing homage to God. Both faiths believe that God takes a personal interest in humans and both believe that God gave them a blueprint to live by in their Holy Scriptures. Both faiths have important prophets and with Islam and Judaism, some of these prophets are shared such as Abraham, Noah, David, Moses and Jesus. Both faiths do not accept idolatry as part of worship although Islam believes that the Jewish faith worships Elijah (Gordon, 2002). Both faiths believe they are the chosen faith and both have a common foundation in Abraham.
