Critical Thinking

The techniques in this manual apply to all subjects. For example, critical thinkers have a clear idea of the purpose and the question they face. They discuss the information, conclusions and perspectives. They strive to be clear, accurate and relevant. They try to think deeply to be logical and fair. They applied their skills in reading and writing both in speaking and listening. They apply to the history, science and mathematics as well as philosophy and the arts in their personal and professional life. Critical thinking is the art of analyzing and assessing thinking for the better (Beck, 1992) (Graham, 2007).

A cultivated critical thinker raises questions and problems and form clearly and accurately. The thinker Collects and evaluates relevant information by using conceptual ideas to interpret effectively. He/she Arrive at conclusions and solutions well-reasoned, by putting to the test against standards and criteria. Critical thinker thinks with an open mind as alternative systems of thought; recognizing and assessing, as appropriate, their assumptions, implications and practical consequences. The thinker makes effective communication with others by identifying solutions to complex problems (Graham, 2007).

Critical thinking is self-directed, self-disciplined, self-controlled and self-correcting, which requires rigorous standards of excellence and a command careful in their use. This leads to the ability to communicate effectively and problem solving, as well as a commitment to overcome our selfishness and our innate socio-centrism.
