Jordan's Case Study about Autism Spectrum Disorder

Introduction

In the preceding years, the sufficient knowledge and awareness for the parents of children with having an Autism Spectrum Disorder has given an emphasis on the problems and issues regarding the significance to parents as they are the primary caregivers. This research paper is also in connection with a child who is 7 years old named as Jordan. Now, this information regarding that has been considered as critical but an effective approach for identifying the basic roles that parents and other members of family play often in the children's lives with helping in disorder of Autism Spectrum. Siblings of those children face some distinctive challenges from the earliest phases of those children's lives and the young siblings or class fellows of the children with such disorders may be bewildered and frightened by their disabilities. They may be resentful by the increased attention of their parents which is given to such children with disabilities. The family members can be felt a sense of intimation due to their lack of understanding in daily needs of children with autism.

So, the concerns related to it are natural and can be best provided directly and openly. For this purpose, parents are the first to take a rapid step in ensuring their children a best care and management of those issues so that they could be able to live their lives in a secure and comfortable manner.

Discussion

There are several issues which affect the children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and such issues are broadly categorized in to four areas.

A requirement of special education facilities for the children which are affected with Autism spectrum disorder under the years of 21 ages.

A requirement for estate planning and proper guardian-ship considerations.

Provision of services after the age of twenty-one in terms of some job or education.

Provision of free medical and compensatory benefits.

Special Education

Children with such disorders must have some entitlements for getting special education facilities at least up to the 21 years of ages by the government in which no cost has to be paid by their families. These services must be mandated by the government in each state and the specific services for the children which are of ages 0 to 2 years are facilitated by the local mental retardation or mental Health institutions. And in the cases of children which are of 3 to 5 years of ages, they are served by some country-based intermediary units or agencies under the required contracts with the Education Departments. When the children with such disorder reach at the age of going to school then the district of local schooling systems must be responsible for granting them equal services.

This is also a main responsibility of the school districts and several other related agencies that they must locate, evaluate, and then identify all the children with such disabilities and making them eligible for getting the special education and other inter-related programs.
