Introduction

In order to survive in today's environment, companies require their products to be visible in front of the customers. If the products are visible to the customers or the end users, it will create relatively more chances of purchase efforts made by customers. This is a basic concept of marketing which many businesses use in order to formulate strategies that help in targeting the customers. In the modern era with intensity of competition in almost every industry, businesses cannot wait for the opportunities to come, but they have to think beyond their horizon. They have to look for the best time and opportunity to expand and grow before their rivals do. For that matter, marketers do think from every aspect to provide a company an edge over its rivals. As far as the visibility of the offerings of a company is concerned, the decisions regarding that should be dealt with extra care. This is because choosing a wrong place to conduct business activities can result in disasters for a business. The major factors that businesses in this regard should focus include, accessibility of business, ease of locality, visibility, distribution, demographics, turnouts, targeted audience presence, cost, competition, accessibility of suppliers, accessibility of staff etc. If these factors are ignored before choosing the business premises of a company then it can hit the company very hard.

Recently, I was facing with a similar issue. Being an assistant consultant in a marketing firm, we were appointed to prepare a report on the benefits that a bathroom manufacturer will get by going for the retail business for the first time and that too by placing his outlet as a pilot store in John Lewis department store. Here we need to know about the concept of the pilot store, which indeed is just similar to a store, but placed on a busy mall or store for the purpose of effective visibility. It is almost like opening up a shop in a busy area where customers visit frequently. It is a proper store like place but inside the departmental store or a mall. At John Lewis, our client can get a chance to take a jump-start to enter into the retail business, which previously they have not experienced yet. This will be the very first time that our client who has requested us to survey on the plan and provide them the appropriate solution, will go for the retail business. The following discussion will analyze in depth the level of business operations that are currently being conducted by John Lewis. This will guide our client whether they should invest in the company for their retail or not. It is a fresh venture which the bathroom manufacturers will be experiencing for which they are rightfully concerned and want to have a jumpstart to their retailing of their products.
